In many Native American cultures, aspen trees are associated with spirituality, regeneration and the cyclical nature of life on earth. A stand or group of aspen trees is considered a singular organism with the main link underground in the extensive root system. Their leaves have beautiful flat petioles that enable them to tremble and vibrate in the slightest breeze and it is said that the trees are communicating between worlds.
I was lucky enough to come across these beautiful trees on a recent trip to the Canadian Rockies and instantly felt a connection with the aspen tree and our energy vibrations as humans. It was at this time I decided on Aspen Reiki.
I have always been interested in the mind and body, exploring ways in which I could feel that they were both working as ‘one’.
Working as a relationship Counsellor with RELATE I become very aware of how we all react differently when experiencing similar situations. The amount of negative and positive energy the human body creates is fascinating, and I grew to understand that links to past issues can stay with us and resurface as really powerful emotions when least expected.
It was at this time I began attending a lovely connection and meditation group and although the group does not offer weekly sessions now, we are still in contact and meet regularly.
It was at this group that I was introduced to the wonderful therapies that are part of my everyday life and it is through these connections that I continue to develop, learn and grow in ways I never expected.
I initially trained in Crystal therapy and Chakra balancing moving quickly onto the Reiki path, eventually to Reiki Master Teacher.
The Reiki journey that I embarked on took me to the Wessex Cancer Centre in Bournemouth for a short while and later into the complementary therapy team at Poole Hospital and Forest Holme Hospice.
It was while working there, supporting patients and their families who were going through their cancer journey I discovered EFT. I witnessed the clarity it gave people who were experiencing difficulties, and how it helped them to identify and understand their emotions and reactions to them.
Working with these therapies and engaging with amazing staff, patients and their relatives who were experiencing life changing events, showed me different ways in which energy reacts within these environments.
I became aware of the support, grounding and calm that came into the room and the ability to share the safe space, to just be at one with what was happening at that time in their lives.
It is this knowledge, experience, my time and support I would like to offer through Aspen Reiki.
